Culture Making with Andy Crouch

culturemakingglobe.jpgIs it odd that I’ve been excited for an unreleased non-fiction book on the philosophy behind culture for almost six months?

Probably, but I don’t care.

Having heard Mr. Crouch speak a few times over the past few years, I’ve been looking forward to a synthesis his myriad ideas on culture. In brief, the guy thinks Christians should be making culture more than they are. I know, totally surprising given the title.

Check the preview out here. And the book’s website here.

And a quick notable quotation from page 21:

the writer of Genesis looks at the world, from stars to starfish, and sees a purposeful, engaged, creative intelligence at work. Every “kind” of animal is further testimony to the extraordinary fruitfulness of this Creator’s imagination. The world is not the product of accident or heavenly politics, but of a free, even relaxed, blessed Creator.

Feel free to discuss any of the points from the PDF in the comments. Additionally, I’d like to know how you think Christians are doing at creating culture?
