“Do you believe in transformation?” That’s the question being asked in this interview with former porn producer Donny Pauling. After a short introductory message by pastor Jake Larson of Arcade Baptist Church, Donny talks about his Christian upbringing, his reasons for rejecting Christianity and his active hatred for Christians, his involvement and life in the porn industry, and finally his spiritual transformation. It’s a riveting (and sometimes disturbing) testimony. There’s a shorter text version of the interview as well.
Pauling now works closely with the XXXChurch team, and writes periodically for a blog about the porn industry at the XXXChurch website. Much of his message focuses on the damage that porn does not just to porn consumers, but to the people working in the industry.

I was mostly encouraged reading/listening by his testimony. God delivered me from drugs like Pauling was brought out of porn, so I love prodigal-son transformation stories.
However, I was most impacted by his haunting indictment of the church: we are apparently as responsible (or more!) for consumption of porn than secular culture. He says there are even porn purveyors who obtain Christian mailing lists to market to, knowing how profitable it will be. Disturbing and eye-opening.
Praise the Lord for him and xxxchurch, for exposing a moral and spiritual parasite within the church that’s been a taboo subject for too long. A healthy dose of reality and repentance can only be a good thing for our spiritual health and our witness.

So few comments. Wonder why? I’ve met guys from XXX Church. Great org. I started using porn when I was..hmm.12-ish. My grandfather actually smuggled in some magazines from his vacation in Holland. It was illegal in the late 60’s. Typical hardcore stuff of today but quite the thing back then. Fascinating to a young boy. I knew I liked girls! This stuff, I knew was “bad” to look at but wow! Anatomy class 501. Then came my grandfathers addiction to it. he stocked up on Hustler and other materials. I knew where it was and when to take a look. So starts the cycle. Later in life porn would pop up in the woods. mags on the leaves? yes, some little girls would steal their dads mags and leave them in the woods.
College came and so did more porn. The the internet. You don’t need any www site to get free porn today. You can get it anything you want for free. I won’t explain because many of you WOULD look for it if I told you. I still like naked women but I have grown very tired of the porn cycle. Use it, confess, fell strong, fall again. I don’t have any fool proof wisdom for you. Just do whatever it takes to remove the “thing” that tempts you. Cancel your cable/sat TV if that what it takes. Take the computer out the room if you must. Get rid of the computer all together if that is what it takes. Just get free.
