A few random links that crossed my path this week:
- Who really cares? A new book finds that religious conservatives tend to be more generous with their time and money than the popular stereotype suggests.
- The best internet marketing blog posts of 2007. Lots of free marketing ideas and advice for your church, ministry, or website there. Via Church Marketing Sucks.
- Is Hollywood as anti-Christian as evangelicals often claim? Can you name 20 recent films that portray Christianity in a positive light? This guy can. More commentary here.
- Deeming traditional graduation gowns too tainted by Catholicism, one seminary has replaced them with… read for yourself. This sounds like an Onion article, but I think it’s serious. (Correct me if I’m wrong.)
- Prosperity-gospel televangelists are the target of an investigation by the Senate Finance Committee. Good idea or government overreach into religious matters?
- How to work with the Baby Boomers in your church. Link goes to part 1; see also part 2.
See you next week!

Thanks for the “How to work with Baby Boomers in Your Church” article. I’m a boomer. I think that all of us, builders, boomers, busters and bridgers are here right now so Christ can reveal himself to people through us right now. I think that “now” just keeps rolling forward and we all need to stay on the train. Unfortunately sometime between 25 and 40 people get off the train and think wherever they got off is “now.” My advice to boomers is to stay on the train so that that the bridgers – and there are some smart people who love God in that group right behind you – don’t have to worry about how to get you busters to let them lead. We’re all in this together.

Andy:
I’m just curious as to why you don’t care about the issue of conservatives and their apparent generosity? If the stereotype in reference to their so-believed lack of concern for the downtrodden has been slanderous, that seems to me to be a big deal. Are we only concerned with the stereotypes of liberals?
Just wondering.

“Who really cares” is the title of the article I linked to, not an editorial comment by me
Sorry about the confusion; I should have worded that more clearly.
