Ever been bored by those really long genealogical lists in the Bible? To get the full experience, you really have to read the King James Version, which employs the tragically underused verb “begat.” (Having to wade through all those difficult-to-pronounce names at the church Christmas service has got to be well up there on the list of pastoral nightmares.) The Busted Halo blog has a nice post about why those genealogies are a wonderful part of the Bible. Here’s a bit more about the importance of Biblical genealogies, and if you’ve got all weekend to read, here’s just about everything you ever wanted to know about Biblical genealogies.
