10,000 new Christians a day… in China!

This is amazing, if true:

Ten thousand Chinese become Christians each day, according to a stunning report by the National Catholic Reporter’s veteran correspondent John Allen, and 200 million Chinese may comprise the world’s largest concentration of Christians by mid-century, and the largest missionary force in history.

The piece above seems a bit… over-enthusiastic on certain points, but if the numbers are correct, global Christianity will look radically different in ten or twenty years. Here’s the original report, which looks at China’s spiritual boom from a Roman Catholic perspective. (The report is actually an effort to understand why Catholicism has not experienced the same surge in popularity that Protestantism has; lots of interesting info there.)
