America’s top cities for volunteering

Posted August 3rd @ 3:32 pm by Andy Print This Post

An organization called the Corporation for National and Community Service has just released a report on the cities in America where the most volunteering happens. (Link goes to an article discussing the report’s findings; see also this picture tour of the top volunteering cities.) A few factoids from the report:

  • 35% of volunteers did so through a religious organization.
  • Perhaps not surprisingly, impoverished areas, particularly crowded cities, and long commute times lead to lower volunteer rates.
  • In the top volunteering cities, a full third of the populace volunteers in some capacity each year.

Here’s a link to the full report. (Via ChurchRelevance.com.)

The best city to volunteer is your city. I used to contribute donations to national ministers and their ministries. Some had even a world ministry. I had the idea that if you helped go into the world I would be blessed with them. And I was blessed with them.

Then one day I visited a math seminar and had no idea how that would change my life. The lady teacher showed us that a wide base cylinder could contain more water than a tall one with the same amount of material to build it. A wider trougth waters more cattle at one time with the same water.

Let’s get to the point. If you support a local ministry in your city that invites many ministers through it,with their different goods to minister to your city, you are able to help more ministers in your city, who then are blessed to take their savings in your city to help them as they go abroad.

Well I just wanted to show that local activity can have world consequences. God hasth been able to bless me more than before. So I’m for helping out in your city. “If anyone does not care for his own family and household he hasth denied the faith and is worth than an infidel”...Paul

    Charity starts at home…Our City!
