Anne Rice was recently interviewed on the White Horse Inn radio program. Rice talks at length about her “loss of faith in atheism” and her return to Christianity. Lots of interesting tidbits about Rice’s journey back to faith, the different ideas and authors who influenced her, and the reading and research she did while making her way back to the faith she’d left behind years ago. Definitely a worthwhile listen, especially if you’re a Rice fan—I liked the brief discussion toward the beginning about the ways that Rice’s spiritual search made its voice heard all the way back in Interview with the Vampire’s characters.

“The more I learned about history, the more I learned about science…I just couldn’t believe in atheism…it takes just as much [faith] to be an atheist as it does to be a Christian…materialistic explanations weren’t enough…”
Wow, what a wonderful interview!

There’s a folklore hym song in spanish that amazingly touched the issue. It goes like this, “Once a bride that I so much, so much, so much. I loved her some much, but the tempter made her unfaithful, so I killed her for her unfaithfulness. But now the law requires that I should die for condeming her. So I sent her to hell for her sin. But before I finish I also want to finish the tempter for making her unfaithful and open his heart. God,humanity and the tempter the devil.
