I have had this “beef” with well-meaning folks in my own church. I despise the term “full-time ministry”. It’s used to describe Pastors and Missionaries and any other full time paid position of the church.
To me – terms like “full-time ministry” give the wrong impression to the Christian who has a job in the secular world. (At least it could.) It sort of draws a line and creates an “us” and “them” scenario.
When I read the bible I don’t see where ministry is an option for the Christian. I don’t care if you work in a bank, sell lumber, or drive a truck – if you’re a Christian you are to live your life “ministering” to those in your sphere of influence including neighbors, co-workers, whoever….
I believe all followers of Jesus should be in full time ministry….. whether in the church or outside of it.

Amen, tony.
One of the many things that I love & scares me about following God in a Jesus way – it’s an all-in proposition.

Mikey,
I thank God for you posting this. This also creates an innability for people to allow others to instruct them in the way of Truth; simply because they don’t know Greek or Hebrew. The irony of this in light of the New Testament is striking. “Where did this man get all these things having not studied?” “My teaching is not my own. It comes from He who sent me.”
