The TED (Technology, Education, Design) conference is an invite-only event held every year in Monterey, California, and brings together some of the world’s top thinkers for four days of talks and discssion. (I hear it’s not cheap, either: registration is something like $6,000 a person. Wow.) Presidents, scientists, artists, geeks all come and give a talk on what they’re passionate about.
I myself never plan on (i) being smart enough to get invited, or (ii) having $6,000 lying around to attend, or (iii) feeling good about spending $6,000 on a four day conference. But that doesn’t mean us mere mortals are left out in the cold, though. The TEDites recently launched their TEDTalks service: full-length video and audio sessions from past and present TEDs.
I’ve been working my way through older talks, and Pastor Rick Warren’s talk caught my attention. It’s a 20 minute talk about tithing, success, worldviews, the environment, and a number of other topics. If you’ve read any recent interviews with Warren, none of his talk should come as surprise to you. But it’s still interesting to see it come from the horse’s mouth: not quite a sermon, it’s still a moving presentation.
If you have 20 minutes to spare, I encourage you to check it out. If you do, be sure to let us know what you think.
