Mapping the social network of the New Testament

Posted January 25th @ 6:44 pm by Andy Rau

Who said that Web 2.0 and social networking was only for MySpace-using teenagers and web-savvy geeks? The clever folks at Crossway Books have put together a “social map” of the New Testament, using IBM’s recently-released Many Eyes data-visualization tool:

Social Map of the NT

It maps out the textual connections between the people mentioned in the New Testament. You can move specific names around to see their relationship with each other. It’s harder to explain in words than it is to actually check it out and play with it, so go give it a try—click on a name and drag it around to see how it works. (Note: you’ll need to have Java installed to use the visualization.)

Definitely one of the coolest things I’ve seen on the web so far this year. Spotted via the ESV Blog, which has additional links and info.)
