The CBS Evening News ran a great piece on youth ministry yesterday with shots from Youth Specialties’ National Youth Workers Convention in Anaheim last month. There’s an article there, plus the original piece from the News (”’Godcasting’ Is Catching On”) and a video extra for the web (“Engaging Today’s Teens”) interviewing YS prez Marko.
How does all this sound to you? Does the church rely too much on flashy stuff and techno gadgets to try to attract kids?

It is our duty to engage this generation in such a way that the gospel is passed on. Each generation must tell the next about the “works of the LORD (YHWH)” I’m sure that certain generations required more bribes or discipline or drama or logic. The passing isn’t codified, the word is. As long as we’re faithful to God’s word, communicating it creatively is required. DT
PS—Mark O. (from YS) rocks! (Especially the original “Wild Truth Journal”)

Yes it was a great bit of technology use I saw when I watched that program. Im of the current Generation (17) and I realize the importance in reaching out to my generation. It is a good idea to reach out through their favorite things such as cellphones ipods and computers.
