TC interview: Greg Wright of “Past the Popcorn”

Posted October 20th @ 3:49 pm by Andy Print This Post

This afternoon, I had the chance to interview Christian film critic Greg Wright about Past the Popcorn, a new film analysis/review website that he’s working on. (It goes online next week.)

Greg has a passion for film—he’s been heavily involved with Hollywood Jesus, has written several books on faith and film, and takes a unique approach to the challenge of film analysis. Give the interview a listen, and be sure to check out Past the Popcorn when it debuts next week!

I agree with Greg that his focus on the artist and what they are trying communicate is a fresh way to look at film but also a fresh way to accomplish evangelism. These people have something to say and film is how they do it. Focusing on the artist can open all kinds of doors of discussion on all kinds of topics.

I think the church is missing the boat when it comes to tapping into art and the artist and I think greg is taking an important step and exposing the christian world to the world of the artist and artistic expression.
