Tom Shadyac, redemptive storyteller

Posted May 24th @ 4:40 pm by Andy Print This Post

Cher at The Culture Beat is talking about Tom Shadyac, the director of Dragonfly, Bruce Almighty (a sequel to which is on the way) and other films. I haven’t seen any of his movies, nor did I realize he was a Christian who worked redemptive messages into his films. Another cultural figure to keep an eye on, and a few more films to add to my viewing queue…

Bruce Almighty is a wonderful film, with a very reasonable (though comic) portrayal of God and the subject of human vanity and pride. Watch it sometime.

I’ve heard good things about it, although for some reason I didn’t watch it when it was in theaters. I’ll have to pick it up next time we’ve got time for a movie. Thanks for the recommendation!
