Hidden messages sent by the American church

Dan Edelen has an interesting series of posts over at Cerulean Sanctum about “hidden messages” that the American church sends:

What’s a hidden message? Usually, it’s a well-intentioned message that has unforeseen negative consequences, or it’s a message that was never intended in the first place, but assumes prominence….

What makes these hidden messages so pernicious is that no matter our church slant (traditional, emerging, charismatic, mainline, evangelical, or fundamentalist), we can fall into these hidden messages.

There are seven posts in the series, each dealing with a different “hidden message” suggested by readers of his blog. Looks like he’s covered a lot of the big issues—anything you’d add to his list of messages to avoid?
