Are your daily devotions getting a bit stale and boring? Why not shake things up a bit and greet each day with an inspirational devotional message from the Klingon version of the Bible? I’m not sure what else I can really add to that, except to say that you really need to listen to the podcast version—somehow, reading a phrase like wa’ Doch jIH ghaj tlhobta’ vo’ joH’a’ (Psalm 27:4, “One thing I have asked of the LORD…”) isn’t the same as hearing an actual Klingon snarl it while shipboard computers beep and boop in the background.
The Star Trek nerd in me applauds. (I tried and tried to find a good Klingon quote to use as a post title, but all I could come up with were “Today is a good day to die” and “Revenge is a dish best served cold,” and neither of those seemed terribly appropriate.)

What kind of nonsense is this, anyway?
Get out of the ‘70’s…MAN!
And if this is the kind of stuff that gets posted regularly at ThinkChristian, I won’t be stopping back anytime soon.

I think technically it was the ‘60s, but then again, I only ever saw the original series in reruns.
Personally, I like a bit of humor once in a while, but again, that’s just me. Do any other TC readers back me up?

I think it’s great! Trekkies For Christ!
Really, if you can’t have fun within the Christian world, what’s the point of fun at all?

I don’t really get it but it’s interesting. I do like the post title idea, “Today is a good day to die” because I’ve been thinking about how “The dead in Christ shall rise first” Admittingly it can be used out of context but it seems that the humble will be exalted and God is wanting to rise up this generation.
I’d like to hear from the guy who said he won’t come back. Lets hear more about what you don’t like. No more running away. Intelligent discussion is the whole purpose.

If we allow the culture to impact our churches, the next thing you know, they will be singing modern songs at church, or using PowerPoint presentations during the sermon!
Oh, wait….
Anyway, if something isn’t inherently sinful, it can be a good way to make a bridge between unbelievers and believers.
And yes, just for fun too!
Although I have to admit, someone has just TOO much time on their hands.

Andy,
As a Christian and a Star Trek fan I salute you! You have posted with honor – Kahless would be proud!
I’d heard that the Klingon Language Institute was working on a Klingon translation of the Bible but was unaware of the site that you referenced in your post. It’s well…..fascinating! Live long and prosper!
In Christ,
Michael

I most heartily agree that a sense of humour and perhaps more importantly, a vivid imagination, is indeed God given. Can anyone doubt that God has an outrageous sense of humour? Do you think He couldn’t make you split your guts, doing a stand up routine?
I am a Trekkie besides – always have been …
It is tragic that our WASP heritage is so ‘stoggy.’ “John 8:36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”

Hey! Thanks for noticing – I’d certainly encourage anyone to listen (or read – the text is always there in the show notes) the messages; I may be out there, but I hope that it is clear my aim is a clear and basic Biblical message. The Klingon is for fun, the Bible is for… well, forever {{:-)
